The people that make this all work.

Randy Steele

Randy Steele

Founder

Randy Steele is Founder of BWRX Studio and Studio Vinci and serves as Faculty Lead for Nuclear Power Engineering Technology and Radiation Protection at Chattanooga State Community College. With over 30 years in nuclear operations, he came up through the field the long way—starting as a non-licensed operator and progressing through every level of licensed operation.

As a former Licensed Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) at TVA's Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant, Randy served in multiple leadership roles including Outage Manager, Work Management Manager, and Initial License Instructor. He led the BWR fleet's response to NRC post-Fukushima regulations, developing critical safety strategies for total loss scenarios.

Randy is passionate about building a "complete nuclear ecosystem" at Chattanooga State—connecting students with hands-on training, internships, and career pathways that support both current fleet operations and the future of advanced reactors. He oversees curriculum aligned with ACAD 08-006 and ABET standards while leading modernization efforts incorporating SMR-focused content and advanced simulation tools.

Through BWRX Studio and Studio Vinci, Randy is preparing Tennessee's workforce for the SMR era, supporting TVA's BWRX-300 deployment at Clinch River and other advanced reactor technologies with community education and next-generation training programs.
